HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION SHAMPOO

Let`s talk about HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION SHAMPOO!
This moisture & shine shampoo with hawaiian coconut extract for dry/damaged hair is quite popular in the natural curly hair community, but not all the comments are positive.
I found it at Wilko and it was half price (I paid it £1.66 for 400ml, a real  bargain!), so I decided to give it a go since I also finished my previous shampoo. You can also found it in other supermarkets like Boots or Superdrug
Before buying this product I made some researches about the ingredients and I found out that NOT all the ingredients are NATURAL, so if you use just 100% natural products for your hair this is NOT the shampoo for you.
I decided to buy it just because 1) it`s starting getting really cold; 2) I can feel more dryness than usual in my hair; 3) I wanted to try something new; 4) I use shampoo only once a week and 5) I`m not in that phase were I`ll buy just completely natural products yet, so I can still afford some experiments with my hair.
That said, let`s talk about my personal experience with this shampoo!
The first positive aspect is that this shampoo has a light consistency, a very characteristic light blue colour and the cap is really practical and easy to use especially when having wet hands in the shower. Another positive aspect is definitely the residual coconut smell on your hair after using it! I`m nut for coconut, so for me this is a plus!
But I still have to remember the big negative side, in other words the silicons and sulphates. Because of them my hair didn`t felt the usually "fully cleanse hair" feeling.

I applied the HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION SHAMPOO on damp hair, rinse it out and repeated twice. Then I applied the TREsemme NATURALS CONDITIONER (link of the review here), finger detangled my hair, rinse it out, repeated twice the procedure and at the end styled my hair with braided bantu knots.
When I untied all the braided bantu knots, my curls felt immediately moisturised and shiny.
In conclusion, I give it a 7-

Have a lovely weekend, y`all!

Oggi parliamo dello SHAMPOO HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION!

Buon finesettimana, gente!

  1. I know there is a lot of fuss about silicone in hair products, but I have very damaged hair from styling and dyeing, so silicone works fine for me. I do have to wash my hair with something else every now and then.

    1. I discovered thta some naturals don`t mind using sulphates & silicons, others don`t use them at all. I think is more a personal preference!

  5. After many years of avoiding Herbal Essences since it used to dry out my hair something terrible, I'm so impressed by the Bee Strong honey range and it makes the hair feel very silky, cared for and soft. Xx

  12. I'm glad you pointed out that it's not a natural product. There are FAR too many beauty products out there that claim to be natural, when in fact they are not. There isn't anything natural about Herbal Essences. The amount of fruit or plant extract that they use is so small and insignificant that it won't actually do anything for your hair.

I've stopped using Herbal Essences because of how horrible their products are on my hair. Maybe I've become too sensitive to it? I was a loyal customer of theirs for more than 10 years. Then I realized that this shampoo was the root of my problems (my scalp, hair, and even the skin on my hands were SO dry from their formula). Ugh...I can't trust them anymore.

Sorry about the rant! LOL! But thanks for your comment on my blog. I really like yours :) I'm now following you on Bloglovin.
